Two weeks out west

The eastern team is about to wrap up a two week stay out in Park City where we have been training and competing in the 15th annual Springer Tournee. Lots of good jumps, bad jumps, some crashes, roller skiing, movies, and even freestyle skiing into the pool.

As most of you might have heard that Beckett Ledger had a crash out here and broke his femur but is recovering well now back in LP and should be ready to go for the winter season.

Trent, Karl, Landon, Matt, Beckett and Gabby all had some highlights on this trip with even some of the team coming home with new Personal Distance Records in training and also some quality rides in competition.

Full results of every hill and event can be found here.

http://www.pcnordicskiclub.org/results/230-15th-annual-springer-tournee

The highlight I must say was on the k90 and k120 as we got to see the older Eastern athletes who are now on our women's and men's national team dominate the podium over the weekend. Nick Fairall of Andover NH won both the k90 and k120 events and we saw Nick Alexander and Chris Lamb join him on the k120 podium to make it an Eastern sweep.

Miles Lussi who was named to the Devo team this summer won the junior class with ease on the k90 and showed some solid jumps on the k120 with the big boys.

So after a busy action packed 2 weeks in PC we will be traveling home to train and get ready for our next adventure to Norge ski club in October and then getting ready for Lake Placid to host the normal hill national championships for special jumping and Nordic combined!!

JN RECAP

Well another Junior National Championship has come and gone and once again team EAST killed it!!
The veteran's of the team Miles Lussi, Luke Daniels, and Matt Doyle capped of their winter with some hardware and the rookies Karl Schulz and Trent White had solid performances and good results for their first JN.

Medal count
SJ Ind. Silver- Miles Lussi
Elimination Jump Gold- Matt Doyle
Team NC Bronze- Miles Lussi and Luke Daniels

Some other Cool things that happened off the podium

Karl Schulz had the fastest cross country time by 26 seconds with a fall on the coarse and skied from 22nd place up to 14!!

The team event saw EAST team 1 finish a solid 5th with rookie Trent White on the team.

No one got lost at the Mall of America.

Trent White in the elimination jump was so excited to jump he was a meter early on the take-off and coach Bliss caught it on video and it is amazing!!

East team 2 which was Matt Doyle and Karl Schulz turned in the 2nd fastest XC time and moved from 9th to 6th.

Coach Bliss only forgot to bring the ESJNC banner to one place this year.

There were a total of 136 coaches meetings a new record for JNC.

All in all I am very pleased with how the kids did this year and how they represented the Eastern ski jumping and nordic combined on and off the hill.

Thanks again to Minneapolis ski club for holding an amazing JNC and all the hard work their volunteer's did to make this happen.

Next year we will be heading to Alaska for JNC so we hope to field another strong team!!

JN special jumping

The individual competitions for special jumping and nordic combined have come to an end and some great results from team East! Thursday night we got to see Miles Lussi put two solid jumps together to grab 2nd place on the K-70 meter hill here in Minneapolis for his first ind. podium spot at JN. Luke Daniels turned in a solid result in 12th followed by Matt Doyle in 25th and our two rookies Trent White and Karl Schulz placing 31st and 34th respectively.

Full results can be found at www.nordicskichampionships.com under the schedule on Thursday.

The ind. cross country was held this morning at Hyland Lake Park under cold and fast conditions for all the racers. Miles who went out first just missed the podium in 4th while Luke Daniels came in a solid 8th. Karl Schulz was the man of the day with the fastest time on the coarse and making everyone ask "who is that kid"?

Results are not posted yet but can be found later at www.nordicskichampionships.com under the schedule for Friday.

We have a short break today and then we will head back to the hill for tonight's elimination jump which should be a fun competition for all!

Weather should not be an issue the whole week as it will be in the 20's and low 30's for all events. Stay tuned for Official training results and remember you can watch all competitions on USTREAM!!

Eau Claire/ 5 Hills Tour

Our first stop on the Mid-West tour is over with and we saw plenty of far jumps, crazy weather, and even some eagles. This summer Eau Claire did a ton of work on there k85 hill re-shaping the landing hill and dropping the take off a couple degrees to modernize the flight curve of the hill.

Friday night was the first event under the lights with a huge loud crowd cheering on the skiers at the bottom.

Junior class results
1. Miles Lussi 88m,88m 242 points
