Volunteer? Free Skiing?

Here at NYSEF blog headquarters, we are bombarded by thousands of fan letters per day. While our celebrity lifestyles are not conducive to reading all this fanmail (89% of which comes from Annie Frenette), we happened to stumble across this:

-------------------------------------------------

Dear Sir or Madam,

I think XC ski racing is wicked cool, ever since I saw that video on the NYSEF Ski Jumping & NC blog. I do, however, also enjoy skiing at Whiteface. How can I watch awesome XC racing, help my community and local ski foundation, and get some free skiing at the same time?

Awaiting your response with baited breath,

Charles C. Iliketovolunteerfornysefxcraces

Here was our response:

Charles,

Why are you writing like it's the 18th century and like stuff? Yes, we know XC racing is wicked cool, as evidenced by this rad picture taken at the SLU carnival last year:

Volunteering for the SuperTour is so easy. So easy. All you do is go to the NYSEF Volunteer Website and select the volunteer position of your choice. Coach McCahill will be applying vaseline to cold racers' faces. Coach Colby will be gently massaging the thighs of racers before they leave the start line. Coach Bliss will be furnishing tired racers with warm beverages halfway through the race.

Do you get a ski pass for a day of volunteering? Yes.

Will it make you a better person? Errrm, maybe? But probably not.

Can I help apply vaseline to cold racers' faces? No! That's our darn job! Help with timing or something trivial like that!

See you at the SuperTour event, only a week and half to go!
